As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher who has navigated through countless twists and turns in narrative-driven series, I must say that The Trunk was an exhilarating ride. The non-linear storytelling kept me on my toes, trying to piece together the timeline of events like a detective solving a real-life mystery.
Netflix’s most recent K-drama hit, titled “The Chestnut Tree“, has wrapped up its highly successful run, leaving viewers curious about who meets their fate in the storyline. Given the show’s intricate and non-chronological storytelling, some fans have found it tricky to follow all the passings within the series.
Thus, here is a list of all the deaths in The Trunk and who ultimately kills Eom Tae-seong.

Who killed Eom Tae-seong in The Trunk?
Eom Tae-seong was killed by Yun Ji-oh in The Trunk.
The central event in the series is Tae-seong’s murder, which sets everything else into motion. The very first episode introduces this murder mystery by showing the police uncovering a puzzling chest that held Tae-seong’s deceased body. Prior to his death, he was an employee of NM (New Marriage) and had relentlessly harassed In-ji. On one occasion at the lake, In-ji even attempted to take his life, but Tae-seong miraculously survived. Ultimately, it is Yun Ji-oh who takes his life.
One day at the lake, Ji-oh violently attacked Tae-seong and a fierce fight broke out. Eventually, he succeeded in stabbing Tae-seong, taking his life. It turns out that it was Lee Seon, the CEO of NM, who urged Ji-oh to eliminate Tae-seong because he was causing trouble for the corporation. Tae-seong intended to reveal the company where In-ji worked, hoping she would no longer be required at her job as a result. However, his evil intentions were thwarted when Ji-oh murdered and disposed of Tae-seong’s body in the water along with a trunk filled with sensitive documents about the company. Consequently, the series concluded with the incriminating trunk once again in In-ji’s custody, ensuring that the company remained hidden from public scrutiny.
