Who are the dragons who need riders in House of the Dragon?

As a dedicated fan of George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series and a devoted viewer of HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” I have spent countless hours immersed in the captivating world of Westeros and its mythical dragons. The latest addition to this rich tapestry has me on the edge of my seat, as Rhaenyra and Jacaerys embark on a quest to find dragonriders in this intricately woven prequel.

In “House of the Dragon,” Rhaenyra and Jace are on a mission to find dragon riders. According to Jace, there’s an abundant supply of dragons available.

Seasmoke exists, drifting aimlessly in the skies now that his master, Laenor, is absent. It’s plausible that Seasmoke is aware of Laenor’s survival and feels forsaken, but it’s more probable that he yearns for companionship and the thrill of participating in dragonriding activities.

As I reached the finale of Season 1, there I encountered yet another formidable foe – Daemon, with his haunting melody, approached Vermithor, the colossal dragon residing in Westeros at present. Yet, I couldn’t help but ponder over the presence of other dragons lurking in the shadows.

Silverwing has already been mentioned in House of the Dragon

Jace gave names to two dragons residing at Dragonstone. The second one is called Silverwing. He’s the sole surviving dragon of the main dragons on the island who once had a rider. The rest of the dragons, living in the wilderness, have never been tamed before, making them more perilous.

Will the dragons get riders in House of the Dragon?

In the story, dragons indeed wind up being mounted by some characters. Specifically, Ulf White, Hugh Hammer, and Addam of Hull are revealed to be the riders for the dragons with previous riders. Notably, Addam is found astride Seasmoke, which had previously belonged to Laenor. Given that Alyn of Hull has been acknowledged as Corlys’s bastard son, it’s plausible that Addam shares the same origin. Consequently, Addam and Laenor would be half-brothers, making it fitting for Addam to acquire Seasmoke.

Hugh Hammer gets Vermithor and Ulf White gets Silverwing.

Have you ever pondered the enigmatic and untamed dragons in the story? Contrary to popular belief, Grey Ghost and Cannibal remain dragon riderless, despite numerous attempts by people. On the other hand, it’s Sheepstealer who acquires a rider. Surprisingly, Nettles, who doesn’t appear to be a dragonseed, manages to win Sheepstealer’s trust by supplying him with sheep as food.

As a dedicated fan of the show, I’ve been eagerly anticipating Nettles’ storyline since it was first hinted at in the series. However, with each passing episode, my excitement has started to wane as there seems to be no sign of her character. It’s becoming increasingly clear that Rhaena might be taking over her role instead. I can’t help but feel disappointed by this turn of events. Nettles’ story was one that resonated with me deeply, and I had looked forward to seeing how it would unfold. Her absence from the show leaves me feeling a tad cheated as a viewer. While I understand that storylines can change and evolve, it’s hard not to feel attached to certain characters and their journeys. So, I can’t help but be sad about this development and uncertain of what might come next.
