Who Are 2NE1 Members? Name & Age

As a long-time fan of K-pop, I can’t contain my excitement as I hear about 2NE1‘s highly anticipated reunion tour in 2024! The memories of their groundbreaking debut in 2009 still fresh in my mind, I’ve followed the careers of each member closely.

As a huge fan of K-pop since my teenage years, I’m thrilled to pieces about the recent announcement of 2NE1’s 15th-anniversary reunion! It feels like just yesterday when I first discovered these talented ladies and their catchy tunes. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and reacquaint ourselves with the profiles of the fabulous 2NE1 members and where they are now in 2024.

In 2009, the acclaimed K-pop girl band 2NE1 from YG Entertainment released their debut extended play with the same name. This EP gained significant popularity within just a year of its release, and it was awarded the grand prize (MAMA Daesang) at the first mini-album awards for the hit track “I Don’t Care” in 2010.

In an impressive feat, 2NE1 created new milestones by securing the Daesang award in their debut year, marking them as the first K-pop idol group to achieve this distinction. Subsequently, they gained widespread recognition both in Korea and abroad, blending various music genres and igniting a fresh wave within the Korean music scene.

Profiles of 2NE1 members explored

After making their first appearance together as a group, 2NE1 has consisted of four members: Bom, CL, Dara, and Minzy. Following a significant break, the influential K-pop quartet is set to reunite for a tour in the year 2024 that could potentially last until 2025. Let’s explore the intriguing backgrounds of these remarkable 2NE1 members, who have left indelible marks on the Korean music scene.

Bom

(Birthday: March 24, 1984)

Park Bom made her entrance in the K-pop girl group 2NE1, serving as their lead vocalist. At 40 years old, she captivated audiences with her extensive vocal skills and versatility, seamlessly fitting into each unique concept presented by the band.

Bom isn’t just known for her vocal skills; she’s also an accomplished musician, proficient in playing the piano, flute, and cello. Many fans may be surprised to learn that she was previously denied opportunities to debut by YGE on multiple occasions before finally making her music debut.

Dara

(Birthday: November 12, 1984)

I, as a devoted fan of K-pop group 2NE1, would like to share some information about one of its remarkable members, Sandara Park, also known by her stage name Dara. Born in the late ’80s, she’s the second eldest among us, with a captivating energy that never goes unnoticed.

Prior to signing with YG Entertainment, Dara participated in the “Star Circle Quest” television program in the Philippines (in 2004). As a result, she gained significant popularity in the country. Subsequently, she was the first member of the group to put out a solo single, titled “Kiss,” which featured CL, in the year 2010.

CL

(Birthday: February 26, 1991)

CL, originally named Lee Chaerin, became the leader, primary rapper, and front dancer for K-pop group 2NE1 since its inception. From the start, fans praised CL’s versatility, as she showcased an eclectic musical palette having gone through JYP Entertainment’s training program.

During the various transformations experienced by 2NE1, CL made her American debut in October 2014. Since then, she has gained a large fanbase in the U.S. and conducted numerous solo concerts there.

Minzy

(Birthday: January 18, 1994)

As a gamer, I’d put it like this: I’m a fan of K-pop group 2NE1, and you know who the youngest and talented member is? It’s none other than Minji, or as we fondly call her, Minzy. Although she took a break from the group before, she’s back now and ready to rock our world with her fellow members for their long-awaited 2024 reunion concert. I used to be amazed by how Minzy, at just 30 years old, handled the lead rapper, main dancer, and vocalist roles in the group like a pro.

In 2016, Minzy made the disappointing departure from 2NE1, which left devoted fans sad. YG Entertainment shared the news with a short message, explaining, “With heavy hearts, we regretfully announce that 2NE1’s youngest member, Minzy, will no longer be a part of 2NE1.”

Where are 2NE1 members now in 2024?

Following a break for 2NE1, each bandmember pursued individual careers and put out albums through different labels. Among them, CL stands out as the most productive, maintaining a steady stream of music releases.

In 2019, Park Bom put out her solo album titled “Spring.” Since then, she has released numerous singles and original soundtracks (OSTs). Her most recent release is the 2023 promotional track called “Holding The End Of This Night,” which is part of the 18 Project 8th Album.

In 2023, Dara returned with her EP “Sandara Park” under Abyss Company marking her latest comeback. Contrastingly, Minzy opted for more television show engagements over music releases. The previous year, the artist served as a judge for the Thai audition program named “9low On Top” in 2022.

In the year 2021, CL, the singer, put out her most recent studio album named Alpha. Yet, she hasn’t stopped being an idol and has worked together with numerous artists and graced several TV shows as a judge. Notably, she was nominated for the Female Singer Popularity Award in the 2023 Asia Artist Awards.

Upon coming back to YG Entertainment, almost every member of 2NE1 marked their reunion with a shared photo on social media. Intriguingly, YG hinted that the quartet would perform together at an anniversary concert in Seoul around early October. Subsequently, they are planning for a global tour.
