In February this year, two heartwarming teenage romance movies, titled NEEK and Dragon, hit cinemas on the same day, causing a box office duel. Both films did exceptionally well and attracted considerable viewer interest. Now, having concluded their cinema releases, they are preparing for their debut on online streaming platforms.
Regarding the film titled Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam, it signifies Dhanush’s third directorial project, showcasing a variety of fresh talents within the Tamil movie industry.
In this movie, emerging stars such as Mathew Thomas, Priya Prakash Varrier, Anikha Surendran, and Venkatesh Menon are featured. It kicked off strongly at the box office, but later experienced a decrease in earnings.
In spite of any challenges or setbacks, NEEK managed to rank as the eighth most profitable Tamil movie from 2025. It delved into themes of unrequited love and rebound romances, infused with a sprinkle of Gen-Z-inspired drama that added a spicy twist.
The story revolves around a young guy struggling with a fractured romance as his parents force him to marry someone they’ve chosen. But then, an unforeseen event takes place when his past lover resurfaces, sparking dormant emotions once more.
NEEK is set to make its OTT debut on Amazon Prime Video starting March 21.
Contrarily, the movie Dragon originates from a tale penned by Pradeep Ranganathan, who also graces the screen in this production. Ashwath Marimuthu helms the direction of this film, which centers on a college student who leaves academia but lands a well-compensated position.
However, misfortune befalls him as he’s compelled to settle outstanding debts, even as he strives to maintain anonymity during his secretive financial wrongdoings linked to his employment.
Dragon will make its OTT debut on Netflix, streaming from March 21.
