Outside the sterile confines of Lumon, the second season of Severance delves into pivotal locations that mold its dystopian tale. In episode 8, Harmony Cobel ventures to her hometown, Salt’s Neck, in search of forgotten Lumon assistance. The chilling atmosphere of this deserted town left viewers intrigued, as they speculated about the real-life location where this haunting backdrop was captured on film.
Where were the Salt’s Neck scenes in Severance Season 2 filmed?
The scenes for Severance set at Salt’s Neck were filmed in the easternmost part of Canada, specifically Newfoundland and Labrador. This Canadian province is located in the country’s Atlantic region. In terms of the plot, the location needed to depict where Lumon initially established their ether factory and later destroyed it. As Kier gained popularity, he abandoned the place, allowing it to decay. Thus, the eerie town symbolizes the sinister impact of Lumon in a metaphorical sense.
As a dedicated fan, I’ve come to understand that Kier, our protagonist, initially began his career at an ether factory in Salt’s Neck. Over time, he meticulously constructed what we now know as the “town,” and when they eventually relocated to the Lumon building, it felt like he captured the essence, or soul, of everything built before.
According to sources, the majority of Salt’s Neck filming took place in Bonavista and Trinity Bay North. It appears that a former fish processing area was reimagined for the show as a derelict Lumon ether factory set.
It’s also been disclosed that they filmed the outdoor sequences for Season 2 during the colder seasons. The filming in Bonavista apparently took place in April, when the landscape was still covered in snow, providing an ideal setting to enhance the series’ eerie ambiance.

In accordance with RadioTimes.com, Season 2 was shot at the Minnewaska State Park Preserve, located in New York. Scenes for Episode 4 were captured at Sam’s Point, Lake Minnewaska, and Peterskill areas within the park. The series’ central location, Lumon’s main building, can be found at Bell Works in Holmdel, New Jersey.
