The Loong Scales Quest

This is a multipart quest that involves visiting a few areas and unlocking some secrets.

  • Get the Loong Scale by fighting the First Prince of the Shifting Sands in the Valley of Despair. You’ll need to get him to smash into the ornate wall or smash it yourself with Wandering Wight. This opens a secret room that contains the Loong Scales.
  • Revisit Chapter 1 and go to the waterfall in the back of the Forest of Wolves. Use the scales to get access to the Red Loong boss fight.
  • To the right of the Rockrest Flat Shrine in Chapter 2, use the Loong Scales to bypass the falling wall of sand. Fight and beat the Black Loong boss there.
  • In Chapter 3, on Turtle Island, just after you fight the dragon and meet your new friend, explore the right side of the island from the Shrine. Here, you will find the Cyan Loon boss fight.
  • In Chapter 4, go to the Relief of the Fallen Loong Shrine. You will find the Yellow Loon at a nearby Pagoda. Take him out for lots of rewards, including a Kun Steel.

To uncover this hidden spot, you’ll have to locate and defeat the Venom Daoist, a rather loquacious boss who resides in two distinct locations. Start by appearing at the Pool of Shattered Jade Shrine in Chapter 4, The Webbed Hollow. Once there, choose the path adjacent to it on your right, proceeding past all the suspended spider cocoons. You’ll encounter him at the end of this path.

1. Before the battle concludes, he’ll take off, and you’ll locate him afterward at the Court of Illumination Shrine within the Temple of Blooming Yellows. Look for the doorway featuring stairs descending from it and two guards dressed in yellow robes.

Head straight on your course, ascending the mountain, then make the subsequent two turns to the left. This route should take you to a spacious cave for the forthcoming Venom Daoist battle. Defeat him, and he will pave the way to the Purple Cloud Mountain region.

Upon arrival, delve into the area and continue progressing until you encounter the formidable Duskveil, a challenging foe. Defeat it to obtain some valuable Kun Steel.

The Hundred-Eyed Daoist

Progress in the game by continuing until you reach Chapter 4, where you’ll encounter and vanquish the final boss known as the Hundred-Eyed Daoist. Upon his defeat, collect another fragment of Kun Steel, a valuable item in your quest.

A Hidden Chest in Furnace Valley

As an eager adventurer, journey through Chapter 5 until you cross paths with Pingping who’ll guide you towards Furnace Valley. Starting from the Entrance Shrine, tread along the path in front of you, all the way to its end. Once there, cast your gaze to the right side of the path you’ve just traversed and follow the winding lava trail at the bottom, being cautious of any burn damage. Keep a lookout, for nestled near this trail, you’ll discover a chest holding a precious Kun Steel.

It’s puzzling why this artifact is placed in such a manner, given that other items are connected to intricate characters and events. Be cautious, for it is safeguarded by the enigmatic Turtle Treasure Spirit. You will find Ma Tianba, a wretched spirit, not far from this location.
