As a die-hard fan of A.P. Bio, I can’t help but feel like Jack Black’s character in the show – always on the rollercoaster of emotions! The series, with its hilarious antics and heartwarming moments, has been a constant source of entertainment for me since its debut in 2018.
Mike O’Brien’s sitcom, titled “A.P. Bio“, has returned to Netflix once more. This show centers around the humorous escapades of an AP biology teacher and his pupils at a high school. Given its success on this new streaming service, viewers are curious as to why it was initially canceled and then revived.
Here is everything you need to know about the initial cancellation of the show.
When was A.P. Bio renewed and why was it canceled twice?
AP Bio experienced two instances of renewal followed by cancellation because of its viewership numbers. It’s important to note that this sitcom premiered back in 2018, with season 2 debuting the following year. The show received a warm welcome and currently boasts an IMDb rating of 7.4/10 and 88% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics. However, despite the favorable reviews, A.P. Bio apparently fell short in the ratings department. Consequently, the series came to an end after only two seasons.
As a devoted fan, I wasn’t ready to say goodbye when AP Bio was canceled last season. But then came the fantastic news: NBC Universal decided to bring it back for another round! It looks like AP Bio will continue its journey and, hopefully, become even more profitable as we move forward. (The Direct)
Originally airing with a 0.4 rating among viewers aged 18-34, the program experienced an impressive surge to 5.9, thanks to non-traditional marketing channels. This boost in ratings catapulted the series back into popularity, ultimately leading to a third season. Additionally, creator Mike O’Brien discussed the show’s return during a Reddit Ask Me Anything session.
He mentioned, “I can’t recall exactly how I learned about the cancellation. It might have been a call from my manager. As for being chosen by Peacock, I’m not entirely sure about the process, but I believe the Twitter campaign #saveAPBio definitely played a role! So, thank you everyone!
After making a return, A.P. Bio continued for two additional seasons. Unfortunately, its run didn’t last too long and the series was ultimately terminated following Season 4. On a platform known as X (previously Twitter), Brain announced this development and thanked his supporters for their unwavering loyalty.
