Vijay Sethupathi pledged to exercise greater caution in his actions moving forward, as part of addressing the recent controversy over a photo from his 43rd birthday festivities. In a statement originally delivered in Tamil, the actor known for his role in Jawan, clarified that during filming for director Ponram’s movie, a sword played a significant part, explaining the context behind his actions.
Because he spent his birthday with Ponram and the group, he incorporated the sword into the celebrations. Aware that this action may have been inappropriate, he pledged to exercise greater caution in the future.
Three days have passed since a picture from my birthday party stirred up some controversy. In the image, I’m seen cutting my birthday cake with a sword. As it turns out, this same sword is significant in an upcoming film directed by Ponram, where I will be acting. Given that we celebrated my birthday together with the team, I decided to use the sword to cut my cake. Some have criticized this as poor judgment. To avoid such incidents in the future, I’ll exercise greater caution.
