When Trisha Krishnan said ‘It’s not my cup of tea’ as she chose modeling over acting

When Trisha Krishnan said 'It's not my cup of tea' as she chose modeling over acting

As an ardent fan of Trisha Krishnan, I’ve always been captivated by her journey from a reluctant actress to one of the most sought-after stars in South Indian cinema. It’s fascinating to think that if fate hadn’t intervened, we might not have had the privilege of enjoying her stellar performances in films like Ghilli and 96.

Did you realize that Trisha Krishnan, a highly desired actress, actually started out with no intention of becoming an actress? Instead, she initially leaned more towards modeling during the early stages of her career in showbiz. She has been active for over 20 years now.

During her days as a Class 12 student, Trisha started taking part in beauty contests and also landed some modeling opportunities. She had an interview conducted by actor Yugi Sethu, where she discussed her aspirations.

In our chat, Yugi inquired as to why I leaned more towards modeling instead of acting – was it my personal preference or a desire instilled by my parents? To answer your question, let me share that approximately seven months ago, I took up modeling and found myself genuinely enjoying the experience.

Instead of acting, Trisha expressed her preference for modeling, explaining it to Yugi as something more suited to her tastes and interests, saying, “No, not at all. Acting is definitely not my type of thing.

In time, Trisha rose to become one of the top-earning Southern film actresses and had the opportunity to collaborate with Yugi Sethu on the movie “Thoongavanam,” starring Kamal Haasan.

For those not familiar, Trisha Krishnan started her acting career in 1999 with the movie Jodi as her debut. However, it was the film Saamy, released later, that gave her first major break. In this movie, she starred alongside Vikram and portrayed a character of a Brahmin girl.

After that, she starred in numerous successful movies such as Ghilli, where she acted alongside Thalapathy Vijay, and 96, where she was paired with Vijay Sethupathi.

In recent times, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the remarkable comeback of a cinematic gem – Ghilli – which has not only captivated audiences but also broken several box office records. Moreover, there are whispers of her potential return for a sequel to 96, adding an exciting twist to the narrative.

The director of the, Prem Kumar, recently opened up about the same during an interview with a Tamil YouTube channel.

He said, “I am excited to work on ’96 Part 2′. Initially, I wasn’t keen on making a sequel to ’96’, but things have evolved. I have finished writing the script for ’96 Part 2′. I have only a few portions left to write.”

Currently, Trisha is involved in several upcoming movies such as “Vidaa Muyarchi” with Ajith Kumar and “Vishwambhara” alongside Chiranjeevi.
