Over the past five decades, I’ve been utterly captivated by none other than the legendary Rajinikanth! Debuting back in 1975, this extraordinary individual has soared to unparalleled heights within the realm of Indian cinema. With an undeniable flair and distinctive style that sets him apart, Rajinikanth has carved out a unique niche for himself in commercial films, leaving us all in awe!
It appears that the actor is quite firm in his choices for the movies he wants to produce, as demonstrated during a conversation with director K. Balachander in 2010. When asked by the Apoorva Raagangal director about his refusal to remake Amitabh Bachchan’s film Cheeni Kum at an event for the Directors’ Union, Rajinikanth expressed his stance clearly.
The actor portraying the Jailer shared that his contentment doesn’t stem from creating films that cater to his creative self. Instead, he prefers dedicating his efforts to large-scale commercial productions, confessing that he has a soft spot for such movies. Though he admitted that Cheeni Kum falls under the category of commercial films, his passion is centered on grander, commercially successful ventures.
When questioned about which movies he thought would endure through the ages, Rajinikanth pointed out three films that resonated with his creative, spiritual, and business aspects. He referred to the 1985 movie Sri Raghavendra, the 1995 film Baashha, and the 2010 production Enthiran as examples.
The actor consistently shows a profound grasp of what audiences want, skillfully combining market popularity with current trends. Additionally, Rajinikanth mentioned that although it’s something he desires, winning a National Award for Best Actor is contingent on collaborating with suitable filmmakers.
As a die-hard fan, I can hardly contain my excitement! On the professional side, the legendary Rajinikanth is diving headfirst into his upcoming project with Lokesh Kanagaraj, titled “Coolie.” This is their first joint venture, and it’s shaping up to be something extraordinary. The star-studded cast includes Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Sathyaraj, and a host of other talented actors in key roles. I simply can’t wait to see this magical collaboration unfold on the big screen!
Notably, it’s been disclosed that actress Pooja Hegde will be contributing to the movie by performing a dance sequence. Moreover, TopMob announced that Aamir Khan, a renowned Bollywood actor, will make a brief appearance in the film. “Coolie” is produced by Sun Pictures, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The cinematography is managed by Girish Gangadharan, while Philomin Raj oversees the editing process.
After Coolie, Rajinikanth is planning to collaborate again with Nelson Dilipkumar for the second installment of his 2023 film, Jailer, named Jailer 2. This upcoming movie will boast music by Anirudh Ravichander. The team has officially announced this project and even released a short teaser video to excite fans.
