As a seasoned Stalker who has traversed the irradiated wastes of the Exclusion Zone countless times, I can say that the release of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been an emotional rollercoaster. The game’s gritty survival experience within the Exclusion Zone is a testament to the team’s dedication and love for the series, but the myriad of technical issues have left many of us feeling like we’ve stumbled into another radioactive trap.
After waiting eagerly for what felt like forever, I finally got my hands on Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl a week ago, but it seems we’ve been hit with a few roadblocks along the way. While immersing myself in this gritty survival adventure within the Exclusion Zone was thrilling as per our review, there were certainly some bumps in the road – from game crashes and endless shader compiling to other technical glitches that made for quite a rocky start. To add to the frustration, the A-Life 2.0 system wasn’t living up to expectations either.
When is the next Stalker 2 patch going to be released?
As an enthusiastic player, I’ve been closely following updates from the developers since the game’s launch. They’ve acknowledged the issues and promised to fix them, which is great news! Recently, GSC Game World even shared a list of upcoming patch changes. However, they didn’t specify exactly when this patch will drop. From my perspective, it might be this week, possibly on Friday, November 29th. But officially, no date has been announced yet. Still, I’m excited about the sneak peek into what we can expect from the next update!
Crash Fixes, including:
- Issues and memory allocation failures, which previously caused the game to exit unexpectedly, particularly around rendering, skeletal meshes, and quest-related cutscenes.
Main Quest Progression Fixes, including:
- Several bugs blocking the main quest progression, NPCs getting stuck in objects, incorrect quest markers, and issues with quest cutscenes.
- Revision of the main quests (like Visions of Truth or A Minor Incident) to ensure smooth transitions, avoiding rare cases of players not being able to proceed further.
Gameplay & Balance Adjustments, including:
- Fixing the price of the weapons with upgrades installed compared to their value without attachments.
- NPCs behavior, including the way they act when lacking a shelter during the Emissions.
Cutscenes & Visual Fixes, including:
- Rarely missing facial animations, misplaced NPCs, and visual inconsistencies like detached heads and clothes clipping.
- Quality and stability improvements of the visual effects.
Softlock Fixes, including:
- Issue where players were unable to close the trade screen after putting ammo in a wrong slot while playing on a gamepad.
User Interface Improvements, including:
- Quest notifications now showed correctly during dialogues.
- Corrected texts and missing interaction prompts.
Noted to be addressed in future updates:
- Analogue sticks dead zones bugfixes.
- A-Life system bugfixes.
Personally speaking as a gamer, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the arrival of A-Life fixes, but unfortunately, it seems like they won’t be included in this upcoming patch. This has been a significant point of frustration for many players, who feel that the game world feels incomplete due to the AI system bugs. I believe the developers should prioritize fixing these issues first.
