Many fans eagerly anticipate Pat Sajak’s possible return to the Wheel of Fortune, and speculation is rife over whether he might reclaim his role as host for the iconic game show. After retiring in June 2024, Sajak was succeeded by Ryan Seacrest, who took charge of the syndicated version of the program. However, it’s been reported that Sajak will make a screen return in 2025, and whispers persist that he may be preparing for a comeback to his former post – though no official announcements have been made as yet. Here’s what we currently understand about the prospect of Pat Sajak rejoining Wheel of Fortune.
Is Pat Sajak coming back to host Wheel of Fortune?
Indeed, Pat Sajak will indeed reprise his role as host for Celebrity Wheel of Fortune’s fifth season. However, it remains uncertain if he plans to return to the regular edition of Wheel of Fortune at this time.
So far, the fifth season of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune has been in a peculiar holding pattern. The initial episode was broadcast on December 2, 2024, probably due to its Christmas theme which wouldn’t fit well during other times of the year. This inaugural episode showcased celebrities Dionne Warwick, Lil Jon, and Chance the Rapper.
Although all episodes have been filmed featuring Pat Sajak, neither ABC nor Sony Pictures has provided any specific release dates yet. This is because, according to Parade, ABC aims to avoid scheduling conflicts with Monday Night Football and other NFL games.
Based on an earlier announcement by ABC, it seems like Season 5 won’t be dropping until mid-season. I’m speculating that they might align its release with Jeopardy Masters, considering the Reddit chatter. If past trends are anything to go by, we could potentially see this airing in late April or May. Fingers crossed!
According to the latest news, Sajak is eager and prepared to step in as the permanent host of Wheel of Fortune, replacing Ryan Seacrest. Some show producers have expressed concerns about Seacrest’s scheduling conflicts and his role in lower viewership ratings for the show, as he also hosts other programs.
