When would Lester Holt leave NBC’s Nightly News?

As of now, Lester Holt’s last day on NBC’s Nightly News is not confirmed.

As per his post on NBC, he plans to continue as an anchor on the news segment “through around the start of summer.” He also mentioned that he would confirm his last day of shooting soon and keep everyone updated.

Holt appears to be leaving NBC’s Nightly News to give more time to Dateline NBC (via NBC). The anchor revealed that he will continue to serve as the host of Dateline NBC. However, this time, he will focus on the work as a full-time job. The 66-year-old further added that he would be expanding his work “on the broadcast and crafting Dateline hours on subjects I care deeply about.”

He also wrote, “I am thrilled to be able to work more closely with my enormously talented friends at Dateline as the broadcast continues to grow and attract new viewers in new place.”

As an anchor, Holt covers current affairs and has had frequent interactions with the President. On the other hand, his work on Dateline involves focusing on crime stories and mysteries that have been kept away from the limelight.

Following Holt’s exit, Tom Llamas will take over as the anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News.
