Did you realize that the creators of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film “Jailer 2” have made an official announcement, indicating that production will start shortly? Interestingly, it was originally intended for Telugu veteran actor Nandamuri Balakrishna to appear in a cameo role in this movie, as planned by director Nelson.
Indeed, Director Nelson originally intended for the actor from the film “Daaku Maharaaj” to make a brief appearance, taking on the character of a passionate police officer in a symbolic form.
Previously, during an interview with Cinema Vikatan, the director expressed, “I had a desire to cast Balakrishna from the Telugu film industry. However, I wasn’t able to find the perfect fit for him in the movie. To be honest, I really wanted him, but I wasn’t sure if he would agree to it if I asked.
If given the opportunity, I would have invited him to join the cast of the movie. Initially, I envisioned him playing a powerful cop character, one who was aggressive. However, I struggled to develop a compelling narrative arc for his character. While each character had a clear beginning and end, I couldn’t find the right fit for him in this particular film. That’s why I decided not to include him. I aspired to conclude the movie with all prominent actors appearing together.
On January 14, 2025, the creators revealed the release of Jailer 2. It’ll be intriguing to observe the movie tropes that director Nelson might use in this follow-up film.
The initial sneak peek of the film starring Rajinikanth was revealed, showcasing him reprising his role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. Notably, director Nelson is back for this sequel, and Anirudh Ravichander will be responsible for creating the movie’s music once more.

On the professional side of things, Rajinikanth is at present engaged in filming for the action-packed movie titled “Coolie,” helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Notable actors such as Nagarjuna Akkineni and Upendra Rao are set to play significant roles in this upcoming production.
