As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that the PlayStation Plus Essential offerings for August have left me feeling like a Jedi struggling to find balance in the Force. But fear not, young Padawan, for there are still some hidden gems amidst this galactic collection!
Members of the PlayStation Plus Essential tier have experienced an average selection of games almost monthly this year. Unfortunately, I must inform you that the offerings for August may not excite adult gamers, but young ones might find them exciting!
Here are your free games for the month of August:
- LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
- Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach
- Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights
To begin with, there’s another LEGO game on the horizon – “LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga”. This title stands out due to its extensive content, as it encompasses all nine films, making it a veritable treasure trove for any die-hard “Star Wars” fan.
In this game, there’s a multitude of characters to play with and explore, all of which can be unlocked. The universe is vast and full of diverse paths to traverse. The level designs offer enough variety to keep you engaged, and young players are sure to have an exhilarating experience.
Coming up next is “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach,” the newest addition to the FNAF franchise. In this adventure, you find yourself in the role of a young child trapped inside Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex after hours. Interestingly enough, Freddy himself is assisting you on this occasion, but beware as the other animatronics have undergone a creative overhaul. This game manages to maintain a sense of family-friendly horror while still delivering some thrilling scares!
Next on the list is “Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights,” a dark fantasy 2D role-playing game. The battle system shares some similarities with “Hollow Knight,” making it appealing for those eagerly awaiting “Silksong” (if it gets released someday). However, it offers more diversity in combat. Additionally, the music evokes the atmosphere of “NieR: Automata.”
As a longtime fan of the Metroidvania genre with years of gaming experience under my belt, I can confidently say that this game is packed with secrets, rich mythology, and an engaging narrative as you work to uncover the enigmas surrounding a devastated kingdom. Along your journey, you’ll discover numerous abilities to unlock throughout the game. Although it doesn’t push the boundaries of innovation or reinvent the wheel when it comes to the Metroidvania genre, sometimes that’s not necessary. In my opinion, if you’re hankering for a classic Metroidvania experience, this game will definitely hit the spot.
Your August games are available to download from August 6 until September 2.
