As a dedicated fan who has binge-watched countless hours of K-dramas, I must say that The Trunk by Netflix has undeniably left me intrigued and captivated. The plot twist with the two similar yet distinct trunks was nothing short of masterful storytelling, keeping viewers on their toes until the very end.
Audience members are eagerly wondering about the contents of the trunk in Netflix’s recent K-drama series titled “The Trunk“. The series centers around an employee named Noh In-ji from a company called NM, who enters into a one-year sham marriage with a music producer, Han Jeong-won. However, their lives take a turn for the worse when they stumble upon a puzzling trunk, which sets off a captivating murder mystery. Given that the plot hinges on this box, many viewers are intrigued to discover its secrets. Here’s what we know so far.
What was found in the Trunk on Netflix?
Seo-yeon’s initial suitcase held garments and playthings she bought as anticipation gifts for her upcoming newborn child.
In the final episode of Netflix’s series, two identical-looking trunks were introduced, each holding distinct items that deepened the enigma surrounding the murder case. Interestingly, these trunks had once belonged to two separate individuals. The first one originally belonged to Seo-Yeon, where she kept mementos for her unborn child. Over time, this trunk passed on to her ex-husband, Jeong-won, following their divorce.
It’s plausible that the other chest was owned by In-ji. Simultaneously, Tae-Seong is determined to uncover the sham marriage between In-ji and Jeong-won, a scheme allegedly masterminded by a recently established matrimonial agency. He intends to seize the chest, presuming it contains their fraudulent marriage documents and the company’s guidelines. However, he unwittingly selects the wrong container in his pursuit.
Seo-Yeon’s trunk is being removed by him. He attempts to unlock it but is unsuccessful. As a result, he comes up with another idea. He calls for In-ji and leads her to a nearby lake, using intimidation to make her open the trunk. In-ji, who now harbors affection for her sham spouse, is given an ultimatum: either she opens the trunk or her partner’s life will be endangered.
Even after numerous attempts, she couldn’t get it open, proving that it wasn’t her box. However, towards the conclusion of the performance, the detective inquired about the contents of the box from Seo-yeon, eventually disclosing that there was nothing harmful inside.
