What to Expect from Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2

Regardless of the criticisms directed towards it, Monster Hunter Wilds has proven to be a monumental triumph for Capcom. While it may not have garnered as much acclaim from fans as Monster Hunter: World did, it remains the highest-selling video game of 2025 in the U.S. and is one of the top five most highly-rated titles this year. To date, Monster Hunter Wilds has achieved the distinction of being one of Steam’s most played games concurrently, surpassing a million more players at launch than any of its predecessors. This success underscores the immense popularity that the Monster Hunter franchise has gained in recent years, despite its modest beginnings.

In line with the tradition of the Monster Hunter series, Capcom has been regularly releasing additional content for Monster Hunter Rise since its initial launch in April. The first Title Update for the game was released then, introducing a Grand Hub, some Arena Quests, and limited-time events like the Festival of Accord. Moreover, Street Fighter 6 crossover content and several challenging new monsters were added to the game with the Version 1.011 update. Even though Monster Hunter Rise has already received multiple updates, there’s still much more to look forward to, particularly with Title Update 2 approaching.

Monster Hunter Wilds’ Next Major Update is Going to Be Filled With New Content

Title Update 2 Will Introduce Several New Monsters

Yuya Tokuda, the director of “Monster Hunter Wilds”, has shared his vision for the game’s future development in a recent blog post on Capcom’s official platform. In this post, he detailed some of the new elements introduced with the Version 1.011 update, as well as what fans can expect from the game’s next significant update. Tokuda announced that Title Update 2 will introduce a horde of challenging 8-star tempered monsters and an entirely new arch-tempered monster. Similar to the beasts added to “Monster Hunter Wilds” in Version 1.011, these upcoming creatures are expected to be difficult to overcome.

Capcom Will Make Balance Adjustments and Add Quality-of-Life Features in Title Update 2

In the upcoming second update for Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll find a variety of additional features. This patch will introduce enhancements to the Photo Mode within Monster Hunter Wilds, including options to hide character displays and turn off glowing effects for skills and items. With a single button press, players will now be able to view detailed skill information on different screens, simplifying build optimization significantly. Additionally, Title Update 2 will introduce Layered Weapons, which function similarly to transmogrification in the Monster Hunter series.

In the same vein as previous updates for Monster Hunter Wilds, the second Title Update will primarily focus on tweaking the balance. As mentioned by Director Tokuda in his letter, the Hammer weapon category, which is frequently used in the game, will receive several enhancements. These improvements include the introduction of offset effects for certain attacks and the incorporation of follow-up attacks after successful offsets. Unfortunately, the specific changes planned for the Dual Blades were not disclosed by Tokuda.

Monster Hunter Wilds’ Next Title Update Will Come Out in Summer 2025

As a dedicated Monster Hunter Wilds player, I’m thrilled to share that although Tokuda didn’t explicitly mention this in his Director’s Letter, Capcom has confirmed the inclusion of a new Festival of Accord seasonal event in Title Update 2. While we’re still waiting for more specifics, considering the consistent pace at which Capcom has been releasing updates, it’s reasonable to expect the event to go live approximately two to three weeks following the patch release. Excitingly, this update is scheduled for summer 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. And just like every other Monster Hunter Wilds patch, it will be a free addition for all players.
