As a die-hard Outlander fan with more than a few seasons under my belt, I must say, the return of Geillis Duncan has me absolutely giddy! The tantalizing teaser for Season 7B hints at some intriguing twists and turns, and I simply cannot wait to see how it all unfolds.
As a devoted Outlander gamer, I can’t help but feel the excitement coursing through my veins knowing that Geillis Duncan is set to make her comeback in the second half of Season 7. I can hardly wait to uncover the intriguing details about her return and delve deeper into the captivating world of Outlander!
Absolutely, if you’ve delved into “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood,” you’re well-versed in its secrets. But what if you haven’t read the books yet and are yearning for those secrets? Fear not, we’ve got you covered with this post!
Let’s discuss how Geillis reappears in the narrative of Outlander, and what we might anticipate for her during Season 7B.
Geillis has moved to Cranesmuir in Written in My Own Heart’s Blood
In the eighth book of the Outlander series, we encounter Roger and Buck in the year 1739. After they plummet through some rocks, Buck experiences heart issues which eventually lead them to a shelter where Dr. McEwan can employ his magical healing methods on Buck. This event plays a significant role in the tale of Geillis.
As I traverse through this mystical landscape, I encounter Dougal, and he confides in Buck, sharing tales of his enigmatic parents. Somewhere nearby, Geillis is present, and the locals we’re staying with engage in hushed whispers about a woman who once inhabited a charred croft. They speak of her as a witch, and an intriguing revelation unfolds – she’s bound for Cranesmuir.
Eager to learn more and longing for a reunion, Buck decides to journey to Cranesmuir to seek out information about his parents and, most importantly, his mother.
Geillis probably isn’t married to Arthur Duncan in Outlander Season 7B
1739 marks the year when Geillis wed Arthur Duncan, but it seems unlikely that they are still married as depicted in the current season’s image of Geillis. There is no wedding ring visible on her finger, though I must admit there’s a possibility she didn’t wear one in the first season. Given her ambition to ensure Bonnie Prince Charlie’s victory at Culloden, it could be strategic for her to wear a ring to blend in and gain access to the influential circles she needed to achieve her goal.
In the year 1739, Geillis finds herself at the prosecutor’s office when Buck and Roger arrive at Cranesmuir. As Buck departs with Geillis for a private meeting, Roger encounters Dr. McEwan, who is in a secret relationship with Geillis. McEwan subtly indicates his awareness of Geillis’ ability to time travel, but she has not disclosed this to him yet.
In the book, Geillis’ appearance ends there. Yet, it becomes evident in the television series’ seventh season (part B) that Geillis and Dougal come together. This marks the beginning of their relationship, as they both share a common goal: to have a Catholic monarch on the throne.
At one point, Roger envisions Geillis and Buck sharing a bed – it’s important to note that Buck has feelings for his mother – followed by a flash of blue light and Buck vanishing from sight. This scene is only a product of Roger’s imagination, so we are left uncertain about the reality of what becomes of Buck after Brianna returns to the past, allowing them to reconnect as a family.
