What to expect for Denny Hunter in Outlander Season 7B based on the books?

As a seasoned Outlander fan who’s navigated through the tumultuous waters of time travel and love triangles alike, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation when it comes to Denny Hunter’s storyline unfolding in Season 7B. The images we’ve seen hint at his continued role as a surgeon, which aligns with the books, but I’m hoping for a bit more romance and intrigue this time around.

As a dedicated Outlander enthusiast, I’m thrilled to learn that Season 7B will bring more of Denny Hunter into the limelight. The intrigue now lies in uncovering his journey ahead.

We’re going to examine the novels for this. The upcoming Season 7B of Outlander is planning to incorporate plotlines from both “An Echo in the Bone” and “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood”. Yet, I don’t believe we’ll witness every single one of those storylines being acted out.

Let’s delve into the plot summaries of the books to get an idea of what they might entail. As always, if you prefer to avoid spoilers, please keep in mind that this discussion may contain them!

Denny Hunter falls for a Grey in the Outlander books

In the Outlander series, Denny carries on his role as a surgeon for the Continental Army. A picture of him conversing with Claire appears in Outlander Season 7B, possibly depicting an instance where Denny assisted in treating Henry Grey. Recognizing Claire’s exceptional abilities, Denny performs whatever tasks he can until Claire arrives on the scene to take over.

As a devoted admirer, I can share that this narrative sets the stage for me – or rather Denny – to encounter Dottie Grey, the beloved sister of Henry and offspring of Hal Grey. A captivating bond develops between them, culminating in their nuptials. Over time, Dottie embraces the Quaker faith and even switches allegiances, a move that leaves the Greys distinctly displeased.

It seems unlikely that Dottie will play a significant role in the story, as Maril Davis indicated they ran out of time to incorporate her into it. This hints strongly that we’ll primarily follow Denny’s narrative centered around his career as a surgeon.

Denny will likely learn how to make ether in Outlander Season 7B

If the series continues with Denny’s surgeon storyline, I foresee two scenes from the books being adapted. Firstly, treating Lord John Grey’s eye injury seems likely, given that we observe in the trailer for Outlander Season 7A that Lord John Grey sports an eye patch. This event takes place following a specific narrative involving Lord John Grey and Claire Fraser.

In a Continental Army camp, Denny coincidentally finds himself when John, who has sustained a severe eye injury, is brought there. Taking care of John’s eye and assisting him in making an escape becomes Denny’s responsibility.

Apart from being a proficient young surgeon, Denny is eager to expand his knowledge. Claire proposes instructing Denny on ether production, which he’ll find useful for Henry’s treatment. This development is intriguing, and we can expect more of it in the show. I’m thrilled about their collaboration and hope it becomes a recurring theme in the TV series.

Outlander Season 7B premieres on Friday, Nov. 22 on Starz.
