As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Stalker 2 has certainly taken me back to my roots. The gritty realism and harsh survival elements are reminiscent of games from the early days, when resources were scarce and every bullet counted.

In the early stages of Stalker 2, it appears I’ll find myself frequently wielding a battered or even broken weapon. The weapons I acquire from foes seem to be on their last legs, with most of them already showing severe damage.

In Stalker 2, it’s more practical to discard damaged weapons rather than trying to repair them. Repairing them would be expensive and I haven’t encountered any NPC, not even the technicians, who seem interested in purchasing broken weapons or dismantling them for parts.

It’s not wise for traders to purchase items that have reached their maximum durability level, as they will only degrade further. Instead, they should use these items until they hit the yellow or partially worn stage, then sell them at a profit. Repairing such items is typically more expensive than simply selling them, making weapon repair an unprofitable endeavor. Unfortunately.

In the game’s universe, where items are typically utilized in various ways, it may appear unusual that damaged equipment needs to be tossed aside and replaced with working ones you come across during exploration or from defeated foes. However, this contributes to the game’s challenge and grim atmosphere of Stalker 2. Nevertheless, it would add an interesting layer if we could dismantle broken weapons for parts at a technician’s station.
