As per Screen Rant’s report, the mid-credits scene hints that Matt Berry is cast as a village resident. This character appears to be the romantic interest of Jennifer Coolidge’s character, Vice Principal Marlene.
In simpler terms, he makes his appearance in the real world after he passes through a portal from the Overworld. His initial interaction with a human is when Marlene accidentally hits him with her vehicle, but she promptly expresses remorse. Subsequently, they share a meal together, which marks the beginning of their romantic journey that persists throughout the movie.
In a scene after the main credits roll, Marlene and the villager meet up in her office and admit their affection for one another. However, just as this happens, Marlene’s former spouse appears and inquires as to why she chose the villager over him. Before she can explain, the villager astonishes everyone by speaking fluent English, which is not common among their kind who usually communicate through grunts.
The speaker’s voice suggests that he is none other than Berry, who gained fame for his performance in What We Do in the Shadows. In the end, the scene shows Berry’s character proposing to Coolidge’s Marlene, making their bond official and solidifying their relationship.
