What Really Happened Backstage During WWE NXT’s USA Network Finale?

As a die-hard WWE NXT fan with over two decades of wrestling fandom under my belt, I must say that the finale on September 24 was nothing short of thrilling! The NXT Women’s North American Championship match between Kelani Jordan and Wren Sinclair was a nail-biter, while the Grayson Waller Effect segment added a dose of drama to the mix.

On September 24th, the grand finale of WWE NXT aired on the USA Network. Notably, an engaging tidbit from behind-the-scenes has emerged. The event commenced with the NXT Women’s North American Championship bout between Kelani Jordan and Wren Sinclair, where Kelani successfully defended her title using her signature move, the Split-Legged Moonsault. Additionally, a captivating backstage interaction unfolded between CM Punk, Trick Williams, and Ethan Page, during which Punk revealed his role as the special referee for this week’s NXT Championship match.

During the program, there was an appearance of The Grayson Waller Effect segment, which fueled conflict between Axiom and Nathan Frazer. This segment ultimately prompted Grayson Waller and Austin Theory to assault the NXT Tag Team Champions, Axiom and Nathan Frazer. Later in the broadcast, A-Town Down Under emerged victorious against Cedric Alexander and Je’Von Evans, after Axiom and Frazer created a diversion.

In the WWE NXT event, Oro Mensah managed a contentious win against Lexis King. Later, Hank Walker and Tank Ledger triumphed over The O.C. Subsequently, Ridge Holland emerged victorious over Riley Osborne through pinfall. The episode concluded with an impactful exchange between Roxanne Perez and Giulia, prior to their WWE NXT Women’s Championship match. This interaction was disrupted by Stephanie Vaquer, who teased her involvement with the winner on the entrance screen.

In this installment, we bid farewell to NXT’s run on USA Network as it shifts to The CW Network come October 1st. Interestingly, a behind-the-scenes report hints that the final episode of NXT on USA Network nearly didn’t make it to air.

WWE NXT finale on USA network almost taken off air

Stephanie Vaquer entered the WWE NXT stage for the very first time on television, but since it was done through satellite, some viewers might have unintentionally overlooked her debut. Despite making a strong impression during her initial performance, according to Fightful Select reports, fans could have missed her premiere.

Based on these accounts, it seems that the extended length of the show almost led to USA Network deciding not to air the episode. The finale ended with just a few seconds left on the clock. Additionally, the last scene featuring NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez and Giulia was cut short due to an interruption by Stephanie Vaquer. This unexpected disruption could potentially have posed a problem for the plotline.

During the recent segment, Vaquer subtly suggested that she would challenge the winner between Perez and Giulia. This week, NXT is set to premiere on The CW network for the first time. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see what unfolds in the next episode of NXT as it starts its new chapter on The CW Network.
