Enthusiasts of “The Walking Dead: Dead City” can hardly contain their excitement for the 2025 debut of the second season, centering around characters Maggie and Negan. The initial season boasted a stellar ensemble cast and has welcomed fresh talents to the forthcoming season, such as Kim Coates from “Sons of Anarchy.” In addition to his role in the upcoming “The Walking Dead: Dead City” season, Coates will appear in the Netflix miniseries, “American Primeval.
Based on reports from Deadline, the upcoming series “American Primeval” is slated to debut on Netflix starting January 9th. This six-part production has been directed by Pete Berg, who is known for his work on “Friday Night Lights,” and written by Mark L. Smith, best recognized for “The Revenant.” The initial glimpses of the series suggest that it will be visually stunning, particularly in terms of its cinematography.
As stated by Netflix, the series “American Primeval” is based in 1857 and portrays a dramatic and investigative account of the chaotic clash between culture, faith, and community as individuals struggle and perish in their pursuit for power over this world. The narrative focuses on those yearning to venture westward and the harsh lawlessness they face. This show delves into the violent confrontations occurring between religion and society.

Kim Coates joins The Walking Dead: Dead City
In April 2024, it was revealed that Kim Coates joined the cast for the second season of “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” a follow-up show in the post-apocalyptic universe of AMC’s hit series “The Walking Dead.
I’m a gamer here, and let me tell you about an exciting spin-off I stumbled upon! It’s called “Dead City,” and it was crafted by TWD CCO Scott M. Gimple and showrunner Eli Jorné for AMC. This series picks up the tales of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan), years after the main storyline’s end. In the first season, we followed their mission to save Maggie’s son, Hershel (Logan Kim).
In the upcoming season, we’ll find Negan back to his previous habits, teaming up with Dama, a powerful figure in New York city’s gang scene. Meanwhile, Coates enters the plot as Bruegel, a cunning and intellectually superior leader of another formidable group residing on the same island.
Alongside several fresh faces, Coates will be working alongside newcomers such as Dasha Polanco, Jake Weary, Keir Gilchrist, and Pooya Mohseni.
Don’t miss The Walking Dead: Dead City when it returns to AMC and AMC+ in Spring 2025.
