As a seasoned rancher with decades of experience under my belt, I can attest to the complexity of rounding up livestock. The process is no walk in the park; it requires a coordinated effort from our trusted four-legged friends like dogs and horses, as well as mechanical helpers such as quad bikes. In some cases, even helicopters lend a hand to ensure that every last cow, sheep, goat, or horse is accounted for. The reason behind this intricate dance is to keep our livestock from straying away and potentially causing trouble. It’s not just cows that we round up, but all types of livestock. Each roundup presents its own unique challenges, but seeing the herd safely gathered at the end of the day is always a rewarding sight.
The show also sees stockmen use a bull-catcher for the Muster process, typically when an unmarked and wild bull poses a threat to the herd and can potentially cause it to get divided. The bull-catcher is a vehicle with a mechanical arm attached to the side.
