Following the initial sneak peek of Borderlands 4 about a month ago, there hasn’t been much time to ponder as additional details have emerged swiftly. It turns out that we’ll be getting our hands on Borderlands 4 sooner than anticipated, with an official release date now confirmed.

What is the launch date of Borderlands 4?

On September 23rd, 2025, Borderlands 4 will be released. This happens to fall on a Tuesday, which is an uncommon day for the launch of a significant new edition in a renowned series. The release date was disclosed during the Sony State of Play event held on February 12th.

In addition to unveiling details about the upcoming game in the release statement, they also showcased a fresh trailer giving us a glimpse into the game’s universe. At this point, we’re only getting hints that it will continue the main storyline of Borderlands, but here are some tidbits: there will be four distinct character classes, an endless variety of weapons, and hordes of enemies that you can burst like balloons filled with loot.

For some time now, I’ve been an enthusiast of this series, and I’m crossing my fingers that the narrative will be more compelling compared to Borderlands 3. Frankly, I wasn’t particularly invested in the antagonists of that game, finding it hard to muster up animosity towards them since they lacked the intrigue I’d expect from a villain. Ideally, I’m looking forward to a return of an antagonist with captivating charm and impact, so here’s hoping for the best.
