Fans can’t help but wonder if Adam Ruzek, portrayed by Patrick Flueger, lives or perishes in the One Chicago Crossover event. In the episode, Ruzek pursues a key suspect into a tunnel that subsequently collapses, trapping him alongside Stella. Despite their efforts to protect the passengers onboard, they also find time to discuss Trudy Platt and the elusive culprit before the climactic confrontation. However, does this tumultuous predicament result in Ruzek’s death? Let’s explore the facts.
Did Adam Ruzek die in the One Chicago Fire, PD, and Med crossover event?
Adam Ruzek injures his arm but doesn’t die in the One Chicago Fire, PD, and Med crossover event.
Meanwhile, deep underground on the train, Ruzek and Kidd find themselves in a precarious situation. Back above ground, their significant others Severide and Burgess are anxious about their location. However, fortunately for them, Ruzek manages to get a signal through which he contacts Burgess. He shares that they’re stuck beneath the surface due to a tunnel cave-in, and there’s an offender lurking among them – someone he was pursuing earlier who ended up trapped along with them.
At first, Ruzek keeps his actions secret, which makes Kidd wary. Eventually, she confronts him about withholding information. She scolds him for being cautious with the details, demanding more clarity about the current situation. As Kidd persists, he reveals the unfortunate incident involving Trudy, where she was shot and taken to a hospital. He also admits that there’s a dangerous individual hiding on the train who could put everyone in danger. However, their focus quickly shifts to a child in need of medical help.
In a turn of events on the train, Ruzek encounters a man resembling the suspects, dressed similarly, and restrains him. This individual introduces himself as Ray, vehemently denying any involvement in the shooting. He requests a man skilled in Morse code to transmit his name for an investigation. At first, Ray is cleared of suspicion, but it later transpires that he was deceiving Ruzek, and the Morse message had nothing to do with his background check; instead, it concerned the injured passengers.
Upon discovering the location of the criminals, the rescue squad sets off to apprehend them, but instead find Stella Kidd being held hostage at gunpoint. The criminal demands Ruzek lower his weapon if he intends to keep Stella safe. In the ensuing altercation, Stella manages to headbutt the criminal, and Ruzek wrestles him with backup from other team members. Amidst the scuffle, the gun discharges, resulting in the death of the criminal. Finally, Archer advises Adam to seek prompt medical care for his wounded arm, and Burgess accompanies him to the hospital.
