As a gamer who has followed Armie Hammer‘s career for years, I find it heartbreaking to see him going through such tough times. The man who once played princes and billionaires is now struggling to afford gas for his truck. It’s like watching a real-life Prince Charming turning into a pumpkin.
Recently, Armie Hammer shared on social media that he’s selling his truck, which has sparked questions among fans about the reasons behind this decision and speculation about his financial situation. Since last year, when accusations of cannibalism and physical abuse surfaced, Hammer’s career has faced significant setbacks.
Wanting to learn more about Armie Hammer’s unexpected choice to part ways with his pickup truck? Here’s a rundown of what’s going on.
Why is Armie Hammer selling his truck?
Armie Hammer is selling his truck as he cannot afford the gas for it anymore.
The actor who starred in “Call Me By Your Name” shared on Instagram that he’s put his truck up for sale. In a video post, he mentioned he’d been in LA for quite some time already. He explained that the truck was actually a Christmas present to himself back in 2017, adding it marked another addition to his collection of pick-ups. Speaking fondly about the vehicle, he shared memories of camping trips and long road journeys across the country with this particular truck by his side.
He then spoke of taking the car to its final destination, Carmax. The actor then proceeded to joke that this was not an advertisement for Carmax.

As the video unfolded, it became clear that Hammer had been shelling out around $400 to $500 on fuel for his car since his return to Los Angeles.
He not only displayed the items in the truck he needed to clear out prior to selling it, but also shared the story of how he transported his two newborn kids from the hospital to their home using that same truck. Furthermore, he mentioned that his latest vehicle is a hybrid model and that he would only spend around $10 on gas each month.
After wrapping up the stream, I shared a tough revelation: my kids weren’t too thrilled about me selling the old truck. But, I’m hopeful they’ll come around eventually. The memories we made in that ride are priceless, and now it’s time for a bit of spring cleaning before it goes – let’s see what treasures we can find!
It appears that Armie Hammer’s financial troubles became apparent as early as 2022. This came to light when images of the actor selling timeshares in the Cayman Islands surfaced online, courtesy of TMZ.
Variety eventually confirmed via one of its sources this had been the case.
Eventually, Hammer shared details about the challenges he encountered publicly during an interview with Bill Maher on Club Random. In this conversation, he admitted to finding happiness amidst the hardships. Moreover, he mentioned that if his recent issues hadn’t arisen, he would have been even less content. Additionally, he found enjoyment in his job as a timeshare salesman in the Cayman Islands.
