Love Island USA Season 7 contestant Yulissa Escobar recently posted a series of Instagram photos looking back at her experience on the reality dating show. In other posts, she’s openly discussed her regret over using a racial slur in the past, which was brought to light during her time on the show.
It’s unclear whether her controversial podcast discussions, where she was allegedly heard using a racially insensitive term regarding an ex-partner (TMZ’s report), led to her sudden departure from Love Island.

On Instagram, Escovar spoke out against the criticism over her old video clips when she shared a post discussing “cancel culture” and owning up to one’s actions. In response to her departure from Love Island, Escobar published an open statement saying, “Old podcast excerpts have been brought back into light recently, and I feel compelled to address this matter personally.
She went on to say, “In the videos, I employed a term that I should have never utilized, a derogatory racial epithet. I used it unknowingly, not fully grasping its significance, history, or the pain it causes. I didn’t intend to be disrespectful or hurtful, but I understand now that my intentions don’t erase the effect it had.
In another discussion, Escobar highlighted a problem with “cancel culture,” pointing out that it’s not about accountability, but rather online harassment. The celebrity expressed concerns about “viral abuse,” stating, “Some people believe cancel culture is about accountability… However, it has morphed into viral abuse.
Now, it’s all about gaining popularity and attention.
Escobar clarified a misunderstanding about her podcast, emphasizing that the video being discussed was indeed from 2021, not 2024 as some claim. She added, “People are spreading falsehoods, but I know the truth.” Later, she commented, “The misrepresentation of me online is unfortunate, but it highlights how the internet can distort perceptions of individuals.
In a recent post about Love Island USA, Escobar showcased her toned bikini body and captioned it with a hint at her brief stint on the show. The celebrity enthusiastically declared, “In case you’ve forgotten, here’s a reminder of my name – it’s right there on the suitcase. I had such a blast!
