What Happened to Slipknot’s Sid Wilson? Face Burns Explained

As a long-time fan of Slipknot and especially their enigmatic DJ, Sid Wilson (or #0 as he is known), I can’t help but feel a pang of sympathy mixed with admiration after learning about his recent brush with danger. The pictures of his facial burns were indeed shocking, but the story behind them is both humbling and relatable.

Many people are curious about what transpired with Sid Wilson, the DJ from heavy metal band Slipknot, following his sharing of images and videos showing burns on his face. Known as #0 in the group and dating Kelly Osbourne, the 47-year-old turntablist, Wilson often shares stories about how he acquired those embarrassing burn scars on his face and arms through interviews and posts on Instagram (@sidthe3rd).

How did Sid Wilson get facial burns?

Wilson sustained facial injuries due to an explosion in a bonfire, caused when he tried to ignite a pile of wooden waste using gas. He described the impact on his face, particularly below his nose, as being “almost completely liquefied.”

In an interview with Fox News Digital, the DJ revealed that he was at his home in Iowa, sharing space with Kelly and their son Sidney, when he felt the need to inspect a pile he had let smolder for several days. “There were still some remnants around the edge,” he admitted, “So, acting foolishly, I ignored safety instructions and poured gasoline on it.”

Wilson recognized that he ought to have utilized a long stick for lighting the pile, but his impulsiveness overcame him. Instead, he opted to get close to the rubble and ignite it without fully comprehending that some residual gas was nearby. He later admitted, “Given how humid it was, there were still plenty of vapors hanging around, and… well, it went off with a bang.”

Luckily, I managed to make it home where Osbourne was waiting, and we sped off to a hospital in Des Moines. The doctors tended to my wounded arms and treated the burns, which have miraculously healed after a few days of recuperation. I’m not exactly downcast about what transpired, but I can’t help but feel a bit foolish for the predicament I found myself in.
