As a gamer who has witnessed the rollercoaster ride that is OG Maco’s life, I can’t help but feel a pang of empathy mixed with admiration. This man has faced more challenges than most of us could ever imagine, from near-fatal car accidents to gunshot wounds and flesh-eating bacteria. Yet, he continues to rise, pushing boundaries in the world of trap music and inspiring countless others along the way.
Musician OG Maco, who is recognized as one of the pioneers of trap hip-hop, has been hospitalized due to a gunshot wound to the head and underwent surgery as a result. This 32-year-old artist, famous for songs like “U Guessed It,” was said to have been at his Los Angeles residence when the incident occurred.
Rapper OG Maco hospitalized with gunshot wound
According to sources from the LAPD, authorities arrived at around 10 AM at the residence of rapper OG Maco, following a distress call made by one of his neighbors about a gunshot. Upon arrival, they found OG Maco in an unconscious state and transported him to a nearby hospital. As reported, OG Maco underwent surgery.
At the time of writing, it’s unknown what transpired before the gun went off.
It’s worth noting that OG Maco is a trailblazer in the trap music genre. Born in College Park, Georgia, he found his footing in Atlanta’s bustling hip-hop environment. In the past, he has released several extended plays, such as Public Speaking under the name Maco Mattox in 2012, a self-titled one in 2014, and Breathe in the same year. However, his first studio album, The God of Rage, came out more recently in 2021.
Back in July 2016, rapper OG Maco (real name Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr.) encountered a severe car accident. The incident left him close to losing the functionality of one eye and caused numerous skull fractures, broken vertebrae, and several other injuries. In an interview with HipHopDX that same year, OG Maco shared the details of the event.
As a gamer, I’d rephrase it like this: “You see, that side of my face you’re looking at? It’s not original. It’s been replaced through the art of plastic surgery. Even my eye, it’ll make a comeback.
Regarding the eyepatch he was wearing, OG Maco explained, “I can use this eye, but it’s not good for me to expose it too much. If I continue to do that, I could lose sight in this eye. To prevent infection, I need to take care of it carefully.
Back in 2019, I, a devoted fan, found myself worrying about my favorite rapper as he bravely battled a dreadful infection known as necrotizing fasciitis. This formidable enemy was fueled by a flesh-consuming bacteria, leaving behind extensive facial scarring on its victim.
