Mickey Rourke shares his face surgery details
Back in 2009, I, Mickey Rourke, shared some insights about my facial surgeries and transformations. My acting career was undergoing quite a shift, and I opened up about the toll boxing took on me. The sport left me with numerous injuries that required medical attention to heal.
In conversation about his beginnings in boxing, Rourke shared with The Daily Mail that he was a proficient amateur, taking a year’s break due to a concussion. Growing up, he spent his days in the gym where Muhammad Ali trained, in Miami. Over this period, he participated in 142 amateur fights and only lost three of them.
Consequently, the rigorous training and combats took a toll on him. He disclosed, “My nose was broken twice. I underwent five surgeries on my nose and one on a fractured cheekbone. Additionally, cartilage from my ear was used to reconstruct my nose.
One procedure followed another due to the circumstances. Rourke detailed that he underwent “several surgeries to remove the damaged cartilage since the scar tissue wasn’t responding well. He further mentioned, “That was one of the most agonizing surgeries I experienced, but the toughest was dealing with hemorrhoids.
According to Rourke, he thinks his facial appearance changed due to the doctor he chose for his treatment. The actor from Iron Man 2 admitted, “Most of it was to repair the damage from my boxing days, but unfortunately, I picked the incorrect professional to reassemble my face.

2017 saw Rourke posting on Instagram about his recent nose operation, performed by Dr. Dhir. In the post’s caption, he humorously commented, “Back to being pretty again (lol)…one more to go. I can’t tell if it’s a new day or if the surgery is over.
