Sadly, the actor Joe Marinelli has sadly passed away. He is particularly recognized for his roles as Bunny Tagliatti in the NBC daytime drama Santa Barbara, and Joseph Sorel in ABC’s daytime series General Hospital. Marinelli also graced our screens on shows such as NYPD Blue, Desperate Housewives, Lethal Weapon, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Numb3rs, Victorious, and The Morning Show.
Joe Marinelli passes away at 68, claims report
On June 22nd, Sunday, Joe Marinelli sadly passed away in Burbank, California, following difficulties linked to stomach cancer. He was a remarkable 68 years old. His wife, Jean Marinelli, shared this heartbreaking news with The Hollywood Reporter. Interestingly, they had never had any disagreements throughout their marriage. Joe leaves behind his devoted wife, Jean, and their two sons, Vincent and David.
Leigh J. McCloskey, who starred alongside Joe Marinelli on Marinelli’s Santa Barbara project, expressed his tribute to his late colleague via Facebook, saying “There was no sweeter man or truer friend than Joe Marinelli.” He continued, expressing admiration for Joe’s unyielding spirit during his tough battle with illness. McCloskey called him a champion and praised him as an exceptional acting partner, mentor, philosophical companion, passionate advocate for people, and a masterful storyteller who skillfully portrayed the human spirit in various forms through laughter and depth.
Following his acting education at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Marinelli embarked on a career within the entertainment world. Early roles include Cagney & Lacey, Hill Street Blues, and L.A. Law. From 1988 to 1990, he played a main character on Santa Barbara, earning him the Soap Opera Digest Award for Best Comic Actor: Daytime in 1990. Between 1999 and 2001, you could find Marinelli in multiple episodes of General Hospital.
Additionally, Marinelli took on diverse roles in films like The Passion of Martin and Sideways. His final on-screen appearances were made in The Morning Show.
