As a long-time fan of the Arcane universe, I must say that the transformation of Jayce in Season 2 was nothing short of shocking! The character we once knew and loved has been twisted by some mysterious force deep within the arcane magic. It’s heartbreaking to see Viktor meet such an unfortunate end at the hands of his friend.
In the second season of the mysterious series, we witnessed a major transformation in Jayce’s personality. Similarly, Viktor encountered a harsh and sorrowful end. As a result, viewers are left pondering about Jayce’s current state and the reason behind him taking Viktor’s life.

What happened to Jayce in Arcane Season 2?
In the second season of Arcane, Jayce, Heimerdinger, and Ekko were taken prisoner by a colossal magical disturbance following their visit to the Hextech’s hidden safety measure situated far beneath the ground.
Jayce found himself exploring the underbelly of Piltover after Heimerdinger and Ekko disclosed that their tampering with arcane magic had inadvertently spawned a corrosive influence within the city. Upon further investigation, they determined that this corruption was the result of untamed runes violently reacting to Hextech, a technology jointly created by Jayce and Viktor.
Following his exit from the strange phenomenon, Jayce underwent a significant transformation, both physically and emotionally. Viktor suggested that he had “brushed against the mystical,” which left his mind scarred. His appearance grew rugged, and there were signs of mental instability. The anomaly also modified his Hextech hammer. This alteration sparked an intense, single-minded objective in him: to eradicate Hextech and anything it had influenced. Tragically, this led him to commit the murder of Viktor and his entire community.
It remains a mystery as to the specifics of Jayce’s transformation; it seems that the creators plan to reveal this during Act 3 of Arcane Season 2.
Why did Jayce kill Viktor in Arcane Season 2?
In the heat of Arcane Season 2, I found myself battling against Viktor. But it wasn’t just me controlling Jayce – it felt like some external force had taken hold of him, as if his mind had been manipulated by a complex enchantment or another entity.
The “sophisticated conjuration” convinced Jayce that Hextech and whomever it affected was deadly. Moreover, Singed had claimed that Viktor was “the apex form of Hextech.” This gave Jayce more incentive to kill Viktor.
