Dan Rivera passes away at 54, claims report
On Sunday, July 13, 2025, Dan Rivera, a seasoned lead investigator with the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), tragically passed away suddenly during his visit to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
Rivera took part in the fully booked “Devils on the Move” tour, where the supposedly haunted Annabelle doll was showcased. The Adams County Coroner verified the passing, but the final cause is yet to be determined after an autopsy.
On a chilly Sunday evening, I found myself as a concerned observer, following news of an incident at a hotel in Gettysburg. Reports circulated about a man needing CPR, and emergency teams were swiftly dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered Rivera, tragically alone in his room. Authorities stated that the situation seemed non-suspicious, yet still, Pennsylvania State Police collaborated with the coroner’s office to conduct a thorough investigation.
In 2011, Rivera, a U.S. Army veteran, joined NESPR and trained under Lorraine Warren until her passing in 2019. Since then, he’s been dedicated to preserving the Warrens’ legacy and exhibiting their occult collection. His collaborative TikTok videos with investigator Ryan Daniel Buell have garnered massive attention, significantly expanding the tour’s audience reach.
1) At the Soldiers National Orphanage, the Gettysburg event ran for three days and managed to sell more than 1,260 tickets. The Annabelle doll, a key attraction, originates from 1968, when it was taken from a private residence by the Warrens and put in their museum as part of the tour.
NESPR announced on July 14 that Rivera had passed away, describing him as a dedicated educator in the paranormal realm. Fellow investigator Chris Gilloren stated that Rivera’s kindness and enthusiasm left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Rivera’s biography highlighted his early encounters with hauntings and proficiency in Santeria practices and rituals.
Rivera was not only featured on Travel Channel’s Most Haunted Spots but also served as a consulting producer for Netflix’s 28 Days Haunted. Following his passing, the paranormal community paid tribute to him extensively, with a touching post from Buell honoring Rivera’s work in assisting families dealing with hauntings.
