Country artist Conner Smith, initially slated to perform at a Military Appreciation Show at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, has withdrawn from the event following a recent unfortunate incident. Fans are now curious as to why Smith decided to cancel his performance and whether this accident might have contributed to the cancellation decision.
Here is Conner Smith’s cancelation of his show and the accident factoring into it, explained.
Conner Smith cancels shows after accident
Last weekend, Conner Smith had to pull out of his planned show at the Military Appreciation Concert in Akron’s Firestone Country Club due to a car accident he was involved in, which happened a week prior to the event cancellation.
According to a press release from Nashville & Davidson County’s Metropolitan Government, published on June 9th, it was revealed that a 24-year-old artist was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that tragically hit pedestrian Dorothy Dobbins on 3rd Avenue North close to Van Buren Street. Initial inquiries suggest that Smith was traveling north on 3rd Avenue North when Dobbins, who was inside a marked crosswalk, was struck. The incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m., with Dobbins being hit within the crosswalk.
After taking a hard hit, I found myself being whisked off to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but unfortunately, my wounds proved too much for me to overcome.
According to the announcement, the initial cause identified for the collision was Smith’s failure to give priority to the pedestrian on the road. Additionally, there were no indications that Smith was under the influence or impaired at the time of the incident.
The talent agency, William Morris Endeavor, has issued a statement concerning the termination of Smith’s scheduled performance:
William Morris Endeavor, the talent agency, has spoken out about cancelling Smith’s upcoming show.
Due to Conner Smith needing some personal time to reflect on recent happenings, he regrettably won’t be able to appear in Akron on June 20th. We ask for your understanding and patience as he navigates through this challenging period.” (via WKYC)
It turns out that Smith had planned to appear at the Buckeye Country Superfest over the weekend, but he’s withdrawn from the event too. Instead, Vincent Mason is set to take his place, as announced on the official Twitter account of the event.
As his official site indicates, Conner Smith is scheduled for a tour across the U.S. this coming summer. Yet, it’s uncertain if his tour will be affected due to the latest accident.
