Bob Rivers passes away at 68, claims report
As a devoted fan, it’s heart-wrenching to share the news that Bob Rivers, an iconic Seattle radio personality, has sadly departed at 68 years old. His passing was due to complexities stemming from esophageal cancer. His loving wife, Lisa, has confirmed the tragic event. In her poignant words, “I’m grateful for everything Bob accomplished and the memories we shared together. I will deeply miss him, but I can replay his voice, and our cherished moments will continue to resonate.” (As reported by The Seattle Times)
For more than two decades, Rivers left a substantial impact on the Seattle radio scene, gaining notoriety for The Bob Rivers Show and his popular Twisted Tunes spoofs. Born in Connecticut, it appears that Rivers’ love for radio began at a tender age. By the time he was sixteen, he was already working in broadcasting professionally. His journey led him from Boston and Baltimore to Seattle in 1989, where he quickly became a beloved morning radio personality. In 2023, he earned a place in the Radio Hall of Fame.
Leaving the radio industry behind in 2014, Rivers shifted to Vermont where he took up maple syrup farming and podcasting. Despite being diagnosed with cancer several years ago, he stayed engaged, attending concerts, composing music, and working on film ventures. His last joint work was with his son Keith Rivers, producing a video for one of his Twisted Tunes classic parody remakes.
River’s surviving family members include his spouse Lisa, as well as their children and grandchildren. A private commemoration ceremony is set to occur in New Hampshire, with a public memorial event being arranged in Seattle at a later time.
