As a seasoned gamer with years of virtual football under my belt, I can’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for Anthony Richardson and his latest setback. The gridiron is a brutal place, much like the battlefields of Call of Duty or the arenas of FIFA.
22-year-old standout quarterback Anthony Richardson, currently with the Indianapolis Colts, sustained an injury during a National Football League game. The incident occurred in the opening quarter of the Colts’ contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 29, prompting him to leave the field due to hip discomfort.
Let me share with you the most recent updates regarding Anthony Richardson’s current challenge and if he is expected to feature in the upcoming Colts’ game.
How did Anthony Richardson get injured while playing football?
During the initial quarter of their matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Anthony Richardson sustained an injury to his hip. This happened when he was running for 16 yards and was brought down by DeShon Elliott. Even though Elliott caused Richardson to drop the ball, Minkah Fitzpatrick of the Steelers quickly joined the tackle, hitting Richardson on the right side of his hip area. Consequently, the quarterback for the Colts fell to the ground during play.
After a quick trip to the locker room for some attention on an injury, I found myself back on the field. But unfortunately, during a short 1-yard rush, I aggravated the injury once more and had to be replaced by veteran QB Joe Flacco. To my delight, he led the Colts to a thrilling victory against the Steelers, ending in a 27-24 scoreline.
When will Anthony Richardson return to play with the Indianapolis Colts?
It’s still uncertain when Anthony Richardson will make his comeback, as he needs to undergo an MRI to assess his current injury. Earlier, during October of last year, he sustained damage to the AC joint in his shoulder and required surgery due to that injury.
Speaking to the media about his current condition, Richardson stated, “I’m experiencing a bit of discomfort, but overall, I’m doing well. We secured the win today. Excellent performance by everyone on the field today. I believe I’ll be fine. Just a touch of soreness. People will discuss injuries. They’ll say, ‘Oh, he’s injury-prone, blah blah blah.’ Nobody enjoys getting injured. So, naturally, I was thinking, ‘Not again.'” (Paraphrased by me)
