What do flashing yellow enemies mean? – Assassin’s Creed Shadows

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, flashing yellow enemies indicate they are in a defenseless state, making them susceptible to increased damage and powerless against incoming attacks. You can make enemies vulnerable by successfully parrying or deflecting an attack at the right moment, or skillfully dodging an unavoidable attack at the last second.

In most common attacks, you can either block or dodge at the crucial instant when the assault is almost upon you. This leaves the adversary exposed. You’ll know an attack can be blocked because the enemy’s weapon will briefly gleam. At that moment, press the left bumper button (or Q if you’re using a keyboard) to execute a flawless block.

Unrelenting attacks make your adversaries flash momentarily in red, indicating they’re particularly tough to block. Attempting to deflect them will result in you being pushed back, leaving you exposed. Instead, evade these attacks by pressing the ‘B’ or ‘Circle’ button on your controller while simultaneously moving a direction with the left thumbstick, or by using the keys ‘Alt’, ‘W’, ‘A’, ‘S’, or ‘D’ on your keyboard in quick succession.

When your opponents are exposed, it’s beneficial to deliver a swift succession of attacks, or preferably, employ a feinting strategy to expose their weak points for a decisive strike.
