On Wednesday, officials from New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation took into custody a squirrel named Peanut and a rescued raccoon called Fred, who were living with Mark Longo in rural Pine City. The confiscation was made following complaints about illegal animal keeping at his home. Unfortunately, during the investigation, Peanut bit an official, prompting them to put him down for rabies tests. Similarly, both the DEC and Chemung County Health Department announced that they had euthanized Fred as well.
