As a dedicated gamer and Netflix enthusiast with a knack for keeping up with the latest entertainment news, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation upon hearing that Wednesday season 2 is slated for release in 2025. The confirmation came from none other than Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos during the company’s Q2 earnings call.
As an avid gamer and music lover, I can’t help but get excited when I hear some great tunes! So crank up the speaker volume for “Goo Goo Muck” or Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary,” and let me show you some spooky moves inspired by Wednesday Addams. The wait for more of her intriguing story has been a mystery, but now we have a clue! Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos has given us a hint about when to expect season 2 of Wednesday on our screens. Yasss!
During Netflix’s earnings call on July 18, Sarandos addressed investors and discussed the recent successes of the streaming platform. In addition, he announced release dates for some highly anticipated shows, including “Wednesday.” According to the CEO, the second season of this show is scheduled for release in 2025.
Near the conclusion of the earnings conference call, Sarandos shared exciting updates for fans. It seems that the anticipated third season of “The Lincoln Lawyer” and sixth season of “Virgin River,” which were thought to be released in 2025, might actually come out this year. On the other hand, “Wednesday,” along with “Stranger Things” season 5 and “The Night Agent” season 2 (apparently), is scheduled for a 2025 release.
Here’s what Sarandos said about Netflix’s 2025 releases:
Looking forward through 2025, you’ve got new seasons of Wednesday, Stranger Things, and The Night Agent. And, we’re in production on One Piece, so there’s a ton of excitement there just in our series.
Sarandos didn’t provide any specific details on the exact months or quarters when the mentioned series would be released in their respective years, aside from the recognition of their release years. However, this news still brings excitement despite the lack of clear timelines. Keep in mind that release dates and schedules are often subject to modification, as Netflix viewers are aware.
It’s no surprise that “Wednesday” season 2 won’t air until 2025, considering the production of this critically acclaimed and culturally significant series has encountered numerous setbacks. The second installment, following the Emmy-nominated debut season, has been held back by writers and actors strikes as well as Jenna Ortega’s packed schedule. As a result, filming didn’t commence in Ireland until May 2024.
The production of this show is expected to carry on until at least August 2024, but it may take a little longer than anticipated. Netflix will keep fans updated once filming has been concluded. Afterward, there are several months’ worth of post-production tasks that need to be completed. These include editing, audio dubbing, and other meticulous processes necessary for polishing the show before its release on Netflix.
The initial season was produced from September 2021 to March 2022 and made its debut on Netflix around November 2022. As for the second season of Wednesday, it’s possible that it could come out in late spring or summer 2025; however, Netflix may choose to launch it during the fall instead. We certainly hope for an earlier release date.
