As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for binge-watching gripping crime thrillers, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming Prime Video series, Cross, starring the immensely talented Aldis Hodge. With his impressive resume that spans from The Walking Dead to Black Adam and City on a Hill, Hodge brings an authenticity to his roles that is hard to match.
In a new crime thriller titled “Cross,” streaming on Prime Video, Actor Aldis Hodge takes the lead role. This series is inspired by the popular novel character Alex Cross, initially presented in the book series penned by renowned author James Patterson.
Produced by showrunner and executive producer Ben Watkins, Cross tells the tale of detective, forensic psychologist, and family man Alex Cross. Throughout his investigations, he probes both victims and murderers to bring them to account. In the first season, Cross and partner John Sampson (played by Isaiah Mustafa) pursue a serial killer as a threat from Cross’ past places him in peril.
In this show, Hodge is both the creator and main actor, with a talented ensemble of other cast members joining him. Some of these include Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, Jennifer Wigmore, Eloise Mumford, and Ryan Eggold.
“Take a look at the official trailer for ‘Cross’, which premieres on November 14th on Amazon Prime Video! Can’t wait to watch it!
Alex Cross is a character who has been featured in 32 of Patterson’s novels, two short stories, and three books centered around his son Ali. Morgan Freeman played Cross in the movies “Kiss the Girls” (1997) and “Along Came a Spider” (2001), while Tyler Perry took on the role in 2012’s “Alex Cross”.
The announcement for the second installment of Cross was made during Prime Video’s first Upfront event in April 2024, well ahead of the premiere of the first season. Jeanine Mason, Wes Chatham, and Matthew Lillard have all been signed on to star in season 2.
Actor Hodge, who won a SAG Award, boasts several unforgettable performances under his belt. In the fourth season of The Walking Dead, he portrayed Mike, the boyfriend of Michonne (Danai Gurira) and father of her son Andre. He’s also recognized for his portrayal of Hawkman/Carter in Black Adam and Showtime’s City on a Hill.
Apart from that, Hodge additionally portrays Alec Hardison in the series “Leverage: Redemption” and secured a leading role in Regina King’s directorial premiere, “One Night in Miami,” earning a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the NAACP Image Awards. Moreover, he has appeared alongside Elizabeth Moss in “The Invisible Man” and starred in the critically acclaimed, Oscar-nominated film “Hidden Figures.
In the movie “Parallel,” produced by Hodge Brother Productions and currently available on Paramount+, he appears alongside Danielle Deadwyler and his brother Edwin Hodge. Additionally, he stars in “Marmalade,” a romantic heist film directed by Keir O’Donnell, which is now streaming on Hulu, along with Joe Keery and Camila Morrone.
Following this, Hodge is set to appear in the thriller titled “The Dutchman“, helmed by director Andre Gaines, who is renowned for his work on Showtime’s “The One and Only Dick Gregory“.
