Disney unveiled the initial, full-length trailer for their eagerly awaited live-action adaptation of the beloved movie, “Lilo & Stitch.
In a fresh take on the classic story, the live-action remake presents fans with a peek into the dream of longing for a star’s grant and encountering an extraordinarily cute blue alien from outer space instead. This modern adaptation follows the tale of a solitary Hawaiian girl named Lilo who yearns for companionship. As a comet streaks across the night sky, she makes a heartfelt wish and encounters Stitch, a canine-like blue extraterrestrial experiment. Together, they explore life’s ups and downs, uncovering the profound essence of “ohana,” a Hawaiian word for family – a bond that ensures no one is ever left behind or forgotten.
Much like the 2002 animated film, the narrative revolves around an orphaned girl named Lilo who lives with her older sister Nani. Lilo forms a deep connection with Stitch, also known as Experiment 626, who causes chaos throughout the idyllic Hawaiian landscape. In the trailer, Nani can be heard saying, “He’s under your care now. Understood?” To which Lilo responds, “We’ll take good care of him!
Dean Fleischer Camp is in charge of directing the movie, with Chris Sanders once again lending his voice to Stitch, joined by Maia Kealoho who portrays Lilo. Other actors include Zach Galifianakis, Sydney Agudong, Billy Magnussen and Courtney B. Vance. The new release of Lilo & Stitch can be seen in theaters starting May 23rd.
