What is The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim about?
183 years prior to the events depicted in the initial trilogy of “The Lord of the Rings” films, titled “The War of the Rohirrim,” this tale recounts the destiny of Helm Hammerhand, the renowned King of Rohan. According to the official synopsis, a surprise assault by Wulf, a cunning and merciless Dunlending lord seeking retribution for his father’s death, compels Helm and his folk to make a bold stand at the ancient fortress of Hornburg—a powerful stronghold that will eventually be recognized as Helm’s Deep. As the situation grows dire, Héra, Helm’s daughter, must find the courage to rally the resistance against an adversary determined to annihilate them completely.
In addition to the previously mentioned voices, we also have Lorraine Ashbourne, Yazdan Qafouri, Benjamin Wainwright, Laurence Ubong Williams, Shaun Dooley, Michael Wildman, Jude Akuwudike, Bilal Hasna, and Janine Duvitski joining the cast.
In this production, it’s Kenji Kamiyama who takes the director’s chair, while Jeffrey Addiss, Will Matthews, Phoebe Gittins, and Arty Papageorgiou collaborate on the screenplay. The story, however, is originally conceived by Addiss, Matthews, and Philippa Boyens.
