As a survivor of sexual assault and someone deeply involved in the world of cinema, Vishal’s recent actions have filled me with a renewed sense of hope. The fact that he arrived at the Nadigar Sangam meeting on a bicycle, humbly interacting with fans and addressing the media, speaks volumes about his character.

Vishal, who holds the position as General Secretary for the Nadigar Sangam (South Indian Artistes’ Association), recently made a unique entrance to their 68th annual gathering in Chennai by arriving on a bicycle. This unexpected scene has since been capturing attention online, spreading rapidly across various social media platforms.

Every Sunday, I enthusiastically share on my platform a captivating video featuring Vishal, who was elegantly clad in a white shirt and blue jeans. This special moment took place as he engaged with his admirers near the entrance of our gathering spot. To make it even more memorable, he warmly shook hands with them and graciously posed for the photographers gathered around, eager to capture the moment.

Upon arriving, Vishal was warmly greeted by a member from the South Indian Artist Association with an identification tag. During this gathering, Vishal spoke to the press about the prospect of establishing a committee akin to the Hema Committee, which had recently published a report detailing the harassment issues women encounter in the Malayalam film industry.

In about ten days, the Nadigar Sangam will establish a committee. Currently, preparations are being made and we will announce it shortly. It is our responsibility to take this step. This association is not only for the male members of the industry, but also for women, to assure them that they have support. – Vishal stated.

Based on an article from The News Minute, the Nadigar Sangam has chosen to enforce a five-year ban within the Tamil film industry for those convicted of sexual misconduct. This action was determined during a gathering of their Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee (GSICC) on September 4th. Additionally, the GSICC will offer legal aid to victims who have experienced sexual harassment within this industry.

As per the report, those accused are expected to first get a warning, with additional steps taken if required.
