Watch 4 Minutes of Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance in New Trailer for the First TV Series Made Entirely in Unreal Engine

As a seasoned gamer and long-time fan of the Gundam universe, I must admit that I was initially skeptical about the computer-generated approach for “Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance”. However, after witnessing the first four minutes of this series, my doubts have been swiftly vanquished. The trailer, much like a well-timed Mobile Suit’s beam saber strike, has left me awestruck!

Netflix recently released a fresh sneak peek of Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, offering viewers a glimpse into the opening four minutes of the show. Unlike previous Gundam productions that incorporated CGI elements, Requiem for Vengeance is unique as it’s entirely computer-generated, making it just the second series (following MS IGLOO) to do so. Given this novel approach, some fans have expressed concern about its quality. However, the trailer seems to alleviate those concerns, suggesting that their apprehensions may have been unwarranted.

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance trailer shows us the initial minutes of the first episode

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance transports us back to the One Year War during Universal Century 0079. Over six episodes, we follow the Red Wolves division of the Principality of Zeon in the European theater as they struggle against the Earth Federation Forces trying to regain their lost land. The series unfolds in the later stages of the conflict, highlighting the Red Wolves’ efforts to resist the Federation’s advance.

Significantly, “Requiem for Vengeance” stands out as the initial TV series to be fully created within Unreal Engine 5. Previously, productions such as “The Mandalorian” have combined game engine elements with conventional CGI and camera work. Yet, “Requiem for Vengeance” is unique in that it will entirely animate its content within the engine itself.

You can catch Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance exclusively on Netflix starting on October 17, 2024.
