As a seasoned Call of Duty Warzone player who has seen his fair share of battles across various platforms, I can confidently say that the Steam version is leaving much to be desired. The inconsistent frame rates and performance issues have made it a less-than-ideal choice for dropping into the action.
To prevent any annoying lags while playing Call of Duty’s newest version, make sure your game runs smoothly. In the fast-paced Warzone environment, having quick response times is crucial for outmaneuvering your opponents due to the newly implemented Omnimovement system.
The first season update brought an abundance of content, such as the transformative Krig C assault rifle, but the most recent update has significantly impacted Steam players. It appears that this version of the game for PC has been plagued with poor performance, making it the least ideal spot to jump into the action.
Warzone on Steam is the worst way to play
Fans of the Battle Royale genre, while descending onto maps like Urzikstan, Area 99, and Rebirth Island using Valve’s platform, have expressed frustration due to a noticeably lower frame rate compared to those playing on Nattle.net and the Xbox PC app, which has left them feeling quite vexed.
The rate at which frames appear in a game can greatly impact its visual fluidity; the higher the frame count, the smoother the gameplay. Some Steam users have been finding it hard to maintain 80 frames per second, whereas gamers on other platforms are consistently achieving frame rates ranging from 100 to 200. This could provide them with a notable edge in their endeavors to be the last player standing in the final stages of the game.
One possible reason for reduced Steam frame rates could be traced back to the introduction of the first seasonal update. Another plausible explanation is that Valve implementing a recording feature on their platform might also lead to a significant decrease in performance, especially when used concurrently with other capture software like NVIDIA Instant Replay. In comparison, platforms such as Blizzard’s and Microsoft’s dedicated for recording may exhibit fewer frame drops.
Will it get fixed?
The integration of Black Ops 6 into Warzone has faced some challenges. Shortly after its launch, Rebirth Island was taken down due to technical issues specific to that map. Raven Software quickly made adjustments to the movement mechanics in Warzone to improve gameplay fluidity. Although there have been problems, it’s encouraging to see the developer taking immediate action to address and fix any issues that arise.
Adding Steam’s poor frame rate to the list of ongoing issues is another point to note. Given Raven Software’s pace in fixing critical bugs, there’s a chance Warzone will be optimized more in an upcoming update. If not, ensure that no capture software is consuming hardware resources while you’re on the battlefield.
