Netflix has given an official update on the ongoing production status of ‘Bet’, their live-action adaption of the well-known manga series Kakegurui. This news follows the show being included in Netflix’s Top 10 English-language shows for the initial three weeks after its premiere.
As a fan, I’d put it this way: “I’m drawn into a world where a prestigious boarding school is ruled by clandestine gambling. However, when a new student named Yumeko with an extraordinary knack for gaming enters the scene, she catches the attention of the powerful Student Council. Yet, her hidden mission for vengeance could potentially disrupt the school’s established order completely.
What is the update for new Netflix show Bet?
Netflix has confirmed that Bet will have a second season. Miku Martineau (known from Star Trek: Section 31 as Kate) will continue in her role as Yumeko, the compulsive gambler, replacing Saori Hayami from the original anime series. The video streaming service also revealed a clip with Martineau breaking the news to fans about the renewal. Besides Martineau, the cast includes Ayo Solanke, Eve Edwards, Clara Alexandrova, Hunter Cardinal, Anwen O’Driscoll, Aviva Mongillo, and Ryan Sutherland.

The show “Bet” is being developed by Simon Barry, who is not only serving as the creator but also the director and executive producer. Other executive producers include Jeff F. King, David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Jon Rutherford, and Nick Nantell. Before this live-action series on Netflix, “Kakegurui” was initially turned into an anime series in 2017, spanning just two seasons. In the year 2019, GAGA Pictures transformed the manga into a live-action film, with Minami Hamabe from “Godzilla Minus One” taking on the main role.
