Warner Bros. Completes Sale of ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ to Ketchup Entertainment

According to Deadline’s report, Warner Bros. has finalized the deal for the long-delayed film project titled “Coyote Vs Acme.

Today, Ketchup Entertainment officially announced the finalization of their global agreement for the rights to the upcoming live-action/animated movie featuring the iconic Looney Tunes character Wile E. Coyote. According to Deadline, the deal was estimated to be around $50 million, and it is anticipated that this film will make its debut in cinemas in 2026.

The movie, titled “May December” and penned by Samy Burch, is directed by David Green. This production is a joint effort between Chris deFaria and James Gunn, who serves as one of the co-bosses at DC Studios. The film finds its roots in the Looney Tunes character that was brought to life by animation genius Chuck Jones and writer Michael Maltese. Additionally, it draws inspiration from an article titled “Coyote v. Acme” written by Ian Frazier for The New Yorker.

Regardless of it performing well during preliminary screenings, the project suffered a high-profile termination due to Warner Bros.’ cost-cutting measures two years back. It remained untouched for over a year afterward. In early 2024, the studio is said to have presented the movie to numerous potential buyers with an estimated price tag of approximately $70 million – the film’s reported production cost. However, according to insider reports, they failed to secure any offers at that time.
