Recently, I had the opportunity to view a presentation about the upcoming Techrot Encore expansion for Warframe, set to launch on March 19, 2025. This latest update continues the Warframe storyline from 1999, and offers additional content such as new characters and stores in the hub area, along with a fresh defense mission featuring some thrilling performances. Moreover, Techrot Encore will introduce our 60th new character, Temple, to the game.
In the thrilling expansion of Warframe 1999’s narrative, I find myself at the heart of the tale centered around Flare – a groundbreaking Protoframe joining our universe. Flare is like the mirror image to Temple, the latest addition to our Warframe crew. He’s the lone survivor of an iconoclastic rock band, where his fellow musicians met their fate at the hands of the Scaldra. My mission now is to shield him as he delivers a legendary concert so electrifying, it reduces the stage to rubble!
To check out the latest offerings, you’re invited to drop by the freshly opened Round Table pub within the expanded Hollvania center. This is where you’ll find the Protoframes – specifically, Minerva (Saryn), Velimir II (Frost), and Kaya (Nova) – regularly hanging out with Flare.
Minerva and Velimir have taken up roles as new merchants, selling weapons and decorations respectively. Meanwhile, Kaya is hosting a brand-new version of the challenging Archimedea mode. Flare acts as your link to Temple, providing you with blueprints for the latest Frame in return for items obtained from the new defense mission.
Temple is a thrilling character, known as Frame, who partners with an intelligent guitar named Lizzie that has sentience. Their fighting style revolves around using abilities in sync with a metronome linked to your targeting reticle. Maintaining the rhythm empowers three of their abilities, eventually enabling the fourth one for use. This character offers a blend of buffs, debuffs, and elemental attacks, making Temple a versatile combatant with an extravagant trick up their sleeve. Given the defensive mission’s focus on a passionate solo act, it’s clear what the atmosphere is all about.
Kaya manages the Temporal Archimedea, a series of tough missions drawn at random from the endgame. A fresh feature for this gameplay mode is the Peely Pix system. By completing missions, you’ll earn stickers that provide cumulative advantages, making future attempts at the Temporal Archimedea less daunting. These unique stickers have been created by artists within the community, who were commissioned by Digital Extremes. This adds a fun collectible aspect to a mode primarily focused on intense challenges.
Lastly, Techrot Encore introduces a fresh mini-game titled Ollie’s Crash Course. Similar to Digital Extremes’ commitment to James Conlin through Atomicycle racing, this game is related to the Make-A-Wish foundation. You can find and play it in the Hollvania arcade. The quirky mode bears a striking resemblance to a Mario Kart race on Rainbow Road.
As a dedicated Warframe fan, I’m excitedly looking forward to diving into Techrot Encore and experiencing the fresh content it offers. Not only that, but under the hood, Techrot Encore will be accompanied by updates to Warframe itself – expect tweaks to existing characters, enhancements to the overall gameplay experience, and quality-of-life improvements. This time around, there’s a particular focus on streamlining the onboarding process for new players, making it easier for them to grasp the intricacies of Warframe. It might seem straightforward, but believe me, it’s an essential step towards creating a more welcoming environment for all players.
But That’s when the latest Digital Extremes devstream will be live, shedding light on all the changes and updates that are in store. So after you finish reading this, head over to check it out!
