As a film enthusiast with a soft spot for war movies that delve deep into the human condition, I can’t help but feel a surge of anticipation for A24’s upcoming production, Warfare. The fact that Ray Mendoza, a veteran who served as a member of Seal Team 5 and BUD/s instructor, is involved in both writing and directing this film adds an authenticity and grit to the project that I find incredibly appealing. His Silver Star award and co-founding War Office Producers alongside retired Army Ranger Jariko Denman further cements his credentials as a storyteller who truly understands the complexities of war.
A24 has released the first poster for Warfare.
The movie “Warfare” is a fresh war-themed film produced by A24, with Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland serving as its writers and directors. Mendoza, having military experience, previously oversaw the military aspects of 2024’s “Civil War,” which was also helmed by Garland and distributed by A24.

Beyond my work on Civil War, I’m also recognized for directing films like Ex Machina (2014), Annihilation (2018), and Men (2022). I may not have received credit, but I did contribute as an unofficial director for Dredd (2012). My writing skills can be found in movies such as 28 Days Later (2002), Sunshine (2007), Never Let Me Go (2010), and the upcoming sequel to 28 Days Later, titled 28 Years Later, set for release in 2025.
While an exact release date has not yet been announced, Warfare arrives in 2025 from A24.
